Carra Morton - Abstract Artist
Carra Morton is a British multi-media artist. It was in 2021 that the artist decided to devote herself full time to her passion for painting, photography and collage and to develop artistic work she had started 20 years previously while studying printed textiles. Having spent 20+ years as a designer, she now focuses on beautiful works for modern interiors.
Carra approaches her art in a spontaneous way, firstly exploring the mediums and colour compositions and playing with shapes sometimes derived from photographs and sketches - and at other times they are intuitive. She works with paint, paper, leather, cork, wood and copper. The results are both works on board, metal, canvas and paper alongside some exploratory digital collage works which are derived from her obsession with pattern and light which she photographs regularly.
Carra's work begins with colour and shapes. She is not aiming to present a narrative with her work, but to imbue the viewer with the joy she derives from creating them.
Carra is inspired by modern artists including Victor Pasmore, Sandra Blow, Carmen Herrera, Sophie Klerk, Barbara Hepworth and many more from the modern art movements of the past 100 years.
